Bradley Fair finally confirms Cheesecake Factory news, shares timeline for opening
Until today, the owners of Bradley Fair have said nothing about reports that Cheesecake Factory is coming to Wichita.
Neither has Cheesecake Factory.
But today, the shopping center is finally confirming what journalists deduced in October when they discovered the chain had pulled building permit applications: Cheesecake Factory is, in fact, opening at Bradley Fair.
A release shared by a Bradley Fair spokesperson didn’t have much new information, but a spokesperson did say that the chain was aiming for a fall 2026 opening.
The release also confirmed that the restaurant would be built on the site where Outback Steakhouse stood before closing and being torn down in 2022. It said that the restaurant would serve Cheesecake Factory’s full menu, which includes more than 250 dishes and more than 30 varieties of cheesecake and dessert.
The release also quoted David Overton, the founder, chairman and CEO of Cheesecake Factory Inc., as saying that the chain was looking forward to serving the Wichita community.
The building permit pulled in October listed the value of the build at $3 million.
“The scope of work is for the construction of a new one-story steel frame structure with the tenant fit-out for a new restaurant, bar, patio dining and a commercial kitchen,” the permit read.
Wichita diners have long voiced their desire for a Cheesecake Factory, which has restaurants in Overland Park, at Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza and at Woodland Hills Mall in Tulsa.
The chain was founded in 1978 in Calabasas Hills, California, and today has about 217 restaurants. Its presence has been so desired by Wichitans that it has become common for people to post on April 1 — April Fool’s Day — that the restaurant is coming to town.
