Wichita police say they have made an arrest in a domestic violence shooting between cousins that left a 25-year-old man with critical injuries Sunday night.

The victim was found in a vehicle in a driveway in the 1200 block of North Grove around 10 p.m., suffering from a gunshot wound to his midsection. He was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment and is “in critical but stable condition,” police said in a news release.

He is expected to survive, WPD spokesman Andrew Ford said Monday.

A 27-year-old man Ford described as the victim’s cousin was arrested and booked into jail after “community tips helped officers track the suspect to a residence in the 1600 block of (South) Edgemoor,” police said.

A domestic disturbance between the men “escalated into a physical fight outside the home,” culminating in the shooting, according to the release.

Police did not disclose the reason they had been fighting.
