A Wichita man will spend more than 20 years in prison for fatally stabbing another man in the neck and abdomen during a fight in southeast Wichita in 2020.

Kenneth Ray Junious Jr., 39, pleaded guilty in March to voluntary manslaughter in the Nov. 15, 2020, stabbing death of 59-year-old Bryan Lee Turner of Wichita.

Sedgwick County District Judge Sean Hatfield on Friday sentenced him to 247 months, said Dan Dillon, a spokesman for the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

Wichita police have said the men were visiting a home in the 2800 block of South Washington, near Wassall, when they began fighting. One witness told police that Turner had irritated another person at the home by asking personal questions before he and Junious started throwing punches at one another, a probable cause affidavit says.

During the scuffle, Junious pulled a knife and stabbed Turner around 1:20 a.m., police have said. Turner died at the scene.

Junious was originally charged with first-degree murder but the charge was reduced to manslaughter in exchange for his guilty plea. He was on parole when the stabbing occurred, police have said.
