Third Wichita location of this Florida-founded restaurant chain opens this week
The new strip center at Maple and Ridge where Jersey Mike’s opened in December will get another food tenant this week. Tropical Smoothie Cafe, which is on the south end of the strip center at 217 S. Ridge Road, will celebrate its grand opening on Friday by giving away free smoothies for a year to the first 50 people in line at 7 a.m.
This will be Wichita’s third Tropical Smoothie Cafe, but it will be owned by a different franchisee than the shops at 2768 N. Maize Road and 9730 E. 21st St., which opened in October 2021 and May 2023, respectively. The Ridge Road location will be owned by Dyne Hospitality Group, the largest Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchisee in the brand. The company, based in Little Rock, opened its first Tropical Smoothie Cafe in 2011 and now has 134 stores across Kansas, Oklahoma, , Missouri, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
According to its website, the Dyne Hospitality Group also owns the shop that opened last year at 1803 E. 17th Ave. in Hutchinson and set a record for the highest sales volume for a grand opening day in Tropical Smoothie Cafe history.
The new shop has a drive-through window. In addition to a big menu of smoothies with options for add-ins like pea protein and vitamin C, Tropical Smoothie Cafes also serve tropical bowls, flatbreads, quesadillas, sandwiches, wraps and salads.
Its hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays through Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays.
Some of the fine print for the giveaway on Friday: Customers must be 13 or older to enter and must purchase a smoothie or a food item. The giveaway is open only to dine-in guests who are in line when the shop opens at 7 a.m.
