Another restaurant tenant will open in this new Wichita strip center
Wichita is getting another Tropical Smoothie Cafe, but this one will be owned by different franchisees.
Developer Brian Suellentrop, who along with his brother, Paul, owns the new strip center at Maple and Ridge where Jersey Mike’s Subs opened in December, confirmed that a new Tropical Smoothie Cafe will also open in the center. It will take over the space on the south end that has a drive-through window.
Suellentrop said that construction crews told him they would start their work in the coming days and that the Tropical Smoothie Cafe should be open by mid-June.
The new smoothie shop will be owned by Dyne Hospitality Group, the largest Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchisee in the brand. The company, based in Little Rock, opened its first Tropical Smoothie Cafe in 2011 and now has 134 stores across Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
According to its website, the Dyne Hospitality Group also owns the shop that opened last year at 1803 E. 17th Ave. in Hutchinson and set a record for the highest sales volume for a grand opening day in Tropical Smoothie Cafe history.
Wichitans Aaron and Jenni Courtney opened Wichita’s other Tropical Smoothie Cafes: The one at 2768 N. Maize Road opened in October 2021, and the one at 9730 E. 21st St. opened in May 2023. The couple also once owned Hurts Donut at 7010 W. 21st St. but closed the store in 2024. Donut chain Parlor Doughnuts now operates in the space.
In addition to a big menu of smoothies with options for add-ins like pea protein and vitamin C, Tropical Smoothie Cafes also serve flatbreads, quesadillas, sandwiches, wraps and salads.
