The wait for an east-side Raising Cane’s just got a bit shorter
The long wait for an east-side Raising Cane’s is going to get a bit shorter.
That’s because the popular chicken finger chain will break ground Tuesday on a new restaurant at Douglas and Rock Road where BD’s Mongolian Grill used to be.
Raising Cane’s is razing the former Mongolian Grill building to build its own on the site.
The popular chicken finger restaurant opened its first Wichita restaurant last summer at 350 S. Ridge Road, where Pizza Hut Italian Bistro used to be.
In October, a representative for the Louisiana company e-mailed: “Pending city approval and permitting, Raising Cane’s is aiming to bring more of our ONE LOVE® – Craveable Chicken Finger Meals® – to Wichita at 111 S Rock Road summer 2027.”
The chain received its building permit late Friday.
The west-side Cane’s dining room is filled with relics from local high schools and keepsakes that pay homage to well-known locals.
It also has a drive-through, and customers who have the Cane’s mobile app can order ahead for faster pickup.
Stephanie Wise of Commercial Collective is the market real estate broker for Cane’s.
As always with Cane’s openings, people lined up at the west one to be “free food for a year” winners, and 20 were chosen at random to win one free box combo three times a month for 12 months.
It’s a bit early to be forming that line for the east-side Cane’s, but we’ll keep you posted on the construction project and let you know when it’s opening closer to the time.
