Five bites of Wichita restaurant news you may have missed
Last week was a busy one for Wichita restaurant news with planned openings, expansions and at least one closure.
Here’s what to know:
• Tokizo, a grab-and-go Japanese restaurant, opened March 20 at 5231 E. Central in the old Angelo’s space. The menu includes sushi rolls, onigiri rice balls and udon noodles. There’s no dine-in seating. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. daily, closed Wednesdays.
• The Coop Chicken Fingers plans to open in July at the former Schlotzsky’s at 1140 S. Rock Road. The owners hope to eventually have three Wichita locations.
• Final Draft, a bookstore-coffee shop-bar, is coming to Delano at 1029 W. Douglas. Owners Natalie and Josh Macy expect to open by June or July. The 2,000-square-foot space will carry about 4,500 books and feature an 18-foot bar with coffee, craft cocktails, beer and wine.
• Sushiya in Old Town has been closed for weeks, and owner Jiyeon Kim said she has “no concrete plans” to reopen due to difficulty finding a sushi chef. Her other restaurant, Wasabi east at 3242 N. Rock Road, remains open.
• 7 Brew is adding an eighth Wichita-area location at 1910 W. 21st St., but two other shops, at 3505 N. Rock Road and 10221 W. 21st St., are expected to open first.
