The return of this classic Wichita bar and restaurant was short-lived
The Chalet — a once-popular east-side hangout at 3030 N. Penstemmon — just reopened in late May, brought back to life by local entrepreneurs (and Heroes Sports Bar & Grill proprietors) Hussein Alkasasy, Raed Mansour and Ehab Mansour.
But the return was short-lived. The bar and restaurant, near 29th and Rock, now appears to be closed. Several readers have written to me over the past week or two asking why it was closed, and when I went to investigate this weekend, I found the place closed up tight, and inside, fixtures had been torn out and removed.
The Chalet’s Facebook page also has been taken down.
I’ve left several phone and Facebook messages for the owners, but I haven’t heard back. I spoke to them in September about a new nightclub and restaurant they’re planning to open in Old Town, which they plan to call 6 Degrees. Construction seems to be progressing quickly on that business, which is taking over the space at 222 N. Washington where The Bullpen and Keys Dueling Piano Bar closed in July.
I’ll let you know if I hear more about either of the two businesses.
