A little more than two months after she opened her Mo & Izzy’s Hash House at 803 N. West Street, owner C.C. Robertson has closed the business.

There just wasn’t enough traffic to sustain it, said Robertson, and she’s sad about it.

“I tried,” she said. “I put my whole heart into it.”

Robertson opened the restaurant on July 14, serving a full breakfast menu plus sandwiches, burgers, Mexican fare and blue plate specials like pot roast and fried chicken. She named the restaurant after her mother and her late father.

The restaurant was set up in a former Sonic Drive-In, though Robertson and other people who have operated restaurants in the space before her had turned the building part into a dining room. The space has been a bit of a revolving door for restaurants over the years and most recently had been home to WOW Cheesecakes from April 2016 to June 2017 and YOLO Grill from August 2013 to July 2015.

Robertson says that for now, she’ll focus on taking care of her mother and might do some catering as well.

She’ll have to relocate her popular Tiny Market vegetable stand, which is known for its farm-fresh tomatoes, she said. Robertson had moved it to the space in front of the restaurant this summer, but she’s not sure yet where it will go.
