Yelp says Wichita spot is the best diner in Kansas right now. Where to find it
Yelp just released a roundup of the most popular diners in Kansas this October, and one Wichita staple made the top spot.
Doo-Dah Diner, located at 206 E. Kellogg, was named the No. 1 most popular diner by the review website. The downtown Wichita restaurant, which serves breakfast and lunch every day, has an average 4.4 stars on Yelp out of about 1,300 reviews.
“This laid-back spot is a great find, conveniently located not far from the airport — perfect for a first stop when you roll into town,” one Yelp review from April reads.
Another reviewer was all about the fare.
“Fantastic service and food. Some of the best breakfast diner food I ever had,” the five-star review from August reads.
Doo-Dah Diner was opened in 2012 by Patrick and Timirie Shibley, who then sold it to business partners and brothers Jay and Jeff Miller this year.
“We’re thrilled to be able to carry on the legacy that the Shibleys built here with the Doo-Dah Diner, and we’re doing our best every day to just make great meals for everybody who comes in and sees us,” Jeff Miller told The Eagle of Yelp’s ranking. “We’re honored that people feel as highly about us as they do.”
When asked what sets Doo-Dah apart from other Wichita restaurants, Miller said it was the diner’s kitchen.
“The Doo-Dah Diner is a 100 percent scratch kitchen ... we make everything in here,” Miller said.
The diner is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Some of the favorites on the menu are the banana bread french toast, biscuits and gravy, crispy corned beef hash and the Triple D. Specials include housemade cinnamon rolls and a steak benedict.
Jimmie’s Diner, another Wichita favorite, also made the list, being named the fifth most popular diner in October. Thai Village in Wichita took the No. 8 spot.
