Wichita-based fast food chain has some of the best burgers in the US for 2025
A Wichita-based fast food chain’s burgers were recognized by USAToday readers for the second year in a row.
USAToday recently released its 10Best Fast Food Burgers in the U.S. for 2025, and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers ranked eighth on the list, after taking the No. 2 spot last year.
Freddy’s Original Double was highlighted in the article. It comes with two steakburger patties, cheese, mustard, onion and pickles served on a toasted bun.
USAToday called the burger “a classic sandwich from one of the Sunflower State’s most prominent chain restaurants.” The original double is $6.99 for the sandwich and $9.99 for the combo meal, which includes fries and a drink.
The publication’s 10Best awards are decided by a panel of experts and then voted on by USAToday readers. A restaurant chain founded in Santa Barbara, California, Habit Bar & Grill, took this year’s top spot.
“We try not to think about those dark days when the burger menu at a restaurant was limited to just ‘hamburger’ and ‘cheeseburger,’” the July 16 USAToday article reads. “Today’s menus are packed with creative combinations of flavors and offer diners a wealth of options for a truly custom-tailored burger.”
Freddy’s was founded in Wichita in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon and friend Scott Redler. It was named after Bill and Randy’s father. Since its inception, the fast food chain has grown to more than 400 locations across 36 different states, including 37 in Kansas and six in Wichita.
Freddy’s headquarters are located at 260 N. Rock Road in Wichita. The Eagle has reached out for comment on the 10Best list.
