The Wichita flag license plate is one step closer to being on Kansas cars
A new Kansas license plate featuring the beloved red-white-and-blue Wichita flag is one step closer to being displayed on Kansas cars.
The Wichita flag license plate bill passed through the House unanimously on Friday afternoon, and had already passed through the Senate in March.
The bill has since been sent to Gov. Jeff Colyer for his signature.
If signed, the bill would become law in July 2018. Based on that schedule, Wichita flag license plates would be available at county tag offices starting Jan. 1, 2019, according to the Wichita Parks Foundation.
The license plate is the beginning of the foundation's “Plates for Parks” campaign, and if authorized, the $50 annual royalty fee will go toward supporting city park improvements and programs.
