Wichita names new assistant superintendent of secondary schools
Gil Alvarez, principal of Northwest High School in Wichita, has been named assistant superintendent of secondary schools for the Wichita district.
Alvarez will replace Bill Faflick, who is leaving the district to become executive director-elect of the Kansas High School Activities Association.
“Mr. Alvarez has many years of experience working in our high schools and middle schools and will be a tremendous asset to our district’s leadership team,” Superintendent John Allison said in a statement issued by the district Thursday.
Before becoming principal at Northwest High, Alvarez served as principal at Northeast Magnet High School and Coleman Middle School.
Eric Hofer-Holdeman, principal at Mayberry Cultural and Fine Arts Magnet, will become principal of Northwest High School. Jeff Freud, principal at Coleman Middle School, will move to Mayberry, and Eric Filippi, assistant at Coleman, will become principal at Coleman.
In other administrative changes announced Thursday, Philip Ingram, assistant principal at Mueller Elementary School, will become principal at Benton Elementary, replacing Katina Asmani, who is moving out of state.
