Two men were charged with murder Wednesday afternoon in the fatal shooting of a man last week near Harry and Hillside.

Macy Foard, 35, and Alexzander Rye, 23, appeared in Sedgwick County District Court on charges of first-degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Dejuan Harris on Dec. 8. They are accused of going to a house in the 2600 block of East Wilma that night to rob the two people who live at the address, but instead shot Harris after he answered a knock at the door. The people the pair were allegedly after were not at home, police have said.

Harris was found Dec. 9, about 24 hours after the shooting. An anonymous caller to 911 alerted police to Harris’ body.

Rye is also facing charges for criminal possession of a firearm and methamphetamine possession in Harris’ killing.

Foard and Rye on Wednesday also were each charged with two counts of aggravated robbery in an unrelated case. Judge Joe Kisner ordered each man to return to court Dec. 30 for his next hearing.

Each remains in Sedgwick County Jail in lieu of $550,000 in bonds in the two cases.
