Wichita police issue warrant for woman sought in homicide
The Wichita Police Department said Tuesday it has issued an arrest warrant for Brittany McDay, a suspect in a homicide last week on South Chautauqua.
On Friday, 21-year-old Jacob Strouse was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, among other charges, in connection with the death of Jacquelyn Harvey, 66.
Police investigators have linked Strouse and McDay to the homicide, and on Tuesday they asked for the community’s help in locating McDay.
Anyone who has seen McDay or has information about the case can call 911, the police department’s homicide section at 316-268-4181 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
Police said Harvey’s son found her dead from a gunshot wound on the morning of Sept. 16 when he took his son to her house in the 300 block of South Chautauqua, which is near Kellogg and Hillside. She had planned to take her grandson to school, police have said.
Police said her vehicle and purse were stolen. The vehicle, a red Jeep Cherokee, was later recovered.
The case is the 20th homicide of 2015 in Wichita.
