Mother, son found shot to death are identified

Editor’s note: An earlier version incorrectly spelled Huong Pham’s name.

Wichita police identified the mother and son who were found shot to death late Saturday as Huong Pham, 62, and Cody Ha, 23.

Police said they are treating the case as a double homicide.

Pham and Ha lived at the home in the 7500 block of East Huntington with their 22-year-old daughter and sister, Lt. Todd Ojile said. That’s near Douglas and Rock Road.

The daughter got home at around 11 p.m. and found Pham and Ha unconscious and bloody, Ojile said. They died of gunshot wounds.

Police have asked that anyone with information call them at 316-268-4182, 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

The gray-blue house sits on a street lined with massive oak trees in a well-tended neighborhood of larger homes north of Towne East Square. The front porch of the house is lined with wind chimes, and the front yard is decorated with plots of cactus and statuary.

On Monday, neighbor Adam Young said, “It’s unnerving they (police) don’t know who did it.” The neighborhood is not accustomed to violent crime, Young said.

The deaths on Huntington are two of four police are investigating from the weekend.

A 25-year-old woman was found dead in a home in the 800 block of North Litchfield on Sunday. Her boyfriend has been arrested, Ojile said.

At 11:45 a.m. Sunday, police received a call from a resident in east Wichita who reported an unfamiliar vehicle that had been parked in the 7800 block of East Pagent. When police arrived, they found a 26-year-old man dead in the vehicle.
