Arrest made after vehicle thefts in Rose Hill
Rose Hill police have made an arrest after a string of vehicle break-ins late Sunday into Monday, according to a news release.
An 18-year-old man was booked into the Butler County Jail on Monday after a Rose Hill officer noticed him acting suspiciously, the release said. He is being held on suspicion of theft and burglary to auto, the release said.
As of late Monday afternoon, about 15 vehicles were found to be broken into in nearly a dozen locations in Rose Hill. Police Chief Nelson Mosley said unlocked vehicles were targeted.
Mulvane Police Chief Dave Williams said Monday that it’s possible the Rose Hill crimes were committed by the same people believed responsible for a rash of vehicle break-ins in Mulvane over the weekend.
Williams said at least three people are believed to have been involved in the Mulvane thefts. Rose Hill police are exploring the possibility that thefts in area communities are related, the news release said.
Nelson said Rose Hill residents who think they were the victim of a theft are encouraged to call the police department at 316-776-0191.
