Authorities have identified the Valley Center police sergeant who was arrested on suspicion of sex crimes.
Thomas Delgado, 49, was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of rape, sexual battery, official misconduct and sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. His arrest involved a weeks-long investigation into an allegation of official misconduct, a news release said.
He was booked into jail shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday and was being held on $100,000 bond, according to jail records. Delgado bonded out of jail Friday evening, said sheriff’s Capt. Greg Pollock.
Delgado joined the Valley Center department on April 1, 2014, records show. Before that, he worked as a deputy for the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. He worked for the Sheriff’s Office for a little over 14 years, records show.
In a news release Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said the “Valley Center Police Department has been fully cooperative during the investigation.”
Details of the investigation will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
