Man killed in Wichita restaurant identified
A 47-year-old man who was shot to death in a southeast Wichita restaurant on Monday afternoon has been identified.
Tan Van Vu of Wichita was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m. Monday inside the Bida Saigon restaurant, 3830 E. Harry, according to Wichita police.
A suspect was taken into custody outside the restaurant shortly after police received a call at 1:30 p.m., according to Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile.
Authorities booked Jonah Isaac Tausche, 20, on suspicion of first-degree murder on Monday in connection with the shooting, according to police arrest records.
Numerous people were inside the business at the time of the shooting.
“Investigators learned that the suspect was at the business for approximately two hours prior to the shooting,” Ojile said. “He was kind of wandering around the pool hall.
“There were no disturbances, arguments or fights whatsoever before the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot and killed the victim.”
A single shot was fired, police said. Ojile said that the suspect and the victim, as far as police are aware, did not know each other.
Ojile added that Vu was a frequent patron of the business.
