KDOT: West Street on-ramps to close starting Tuesday for I-235 project
The closing of the on-ramps from West Street to Kellogg will begin Tuesday, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Closure of both entrance ramps is part of the I-235 and Kellogg interchange project. KDOT had initially announced the on-ramps would be closed in December, but it was delayed for work on West Street. The on-ramps will be closed for about six months, KDOT has said.
Demolition of buildings on the north side of Kellogg near West Street are complete, said Tom Hein, KDOT spokesman, in a release. That work is for a new water line and storm sewer.
Other work related to the new interchange include widening of the I-235 bridges over Maple and construction of a bridge on the northbound I-235 ramp to Kellogg. The Maple work reduces traffic to one lane in each direction.
