The closure of two entrance ramps from West Street to Kellogg has been delayed, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The on-ramps were scheduled to be closed this week as part of work on the I-235 and Kellogg interchange project. The exact date of the closures has not been set, said Tom Hein, KDOT spokesman, in a release, but it will be in mid-December.

Over the next two weeks, crews will place temporary traffic signals on West Street, which must be done first, Hein said, before the ramps are closed. The ramps will be closed for about six months, KDOT has said.

KDOT has marked two detours for drivers: one that uses Maple to Edwards to get on Kellogg; the other uses Harry to Southwest Boulevard.

Crews have demolished buildings on the north side of Kellogg, including the former Wichita Ballroom, to make way for a new water line and a new ramp.

Other work related to the interchange project includes placement of a concrete barrier wall on the shoulder along southbound I-235 from Central to Kellogg.

Project information is available at www.235kelloggcentral.com.
