On-ramps from West Street to Kellogg to close next month

The two entrance ramps from West Street to Kellogg will be closed beginning the week of Dec. 7 as part of work on the I-235 and Kellogg interchange project.

The ramps will be closed for about six months, according to a news release from the Kansas Department of Transportation.

KDOT is marking two detours for drivers: one that uses Maple to Edwards to get on Kellogg; the other uses Harry to Southwest Boulevard.

During the week of Nov. 30, work will begin on West Street to remove the medians so that lanes can be adjusted as needed during widening of the bridges over West Street, the release said.

During construction, two lanes for each direction on I-235 and three lanes for each direction of Kellogg will be maintained as much as possible, KDOT said.

Dondlinger Construction of Wichita is the prime contractor on the nearly $103 million project. Completion is planned for the summer of 2019. Project information is available at www.235kelloggcentral.com.
