Where to claim retail lottery prizes in Kansas
Lottery prizes up to $599 may be claimed at most retailers that sell lottery tickets. You do not have to claim your prize at the same place you purchased your ticket.
“Some stores have certain times when they can cash larger prizes or have limited cash on hand, so be sure to tell the clerk the amount of the prize before the ticket is validated,” lottery officials said, adding that you may also claim your prize at the Kansas Lottery headquarters in Topeka.
For prizes between $600 and $5,000, you must bring your ticket to the headquarters in Topeka or mail your ticket and the claim form to the office. You can receive your check the same day you claim your prize.
If your prize is worth $5,001 or more, you must also bring your ticket to the Topeka office or mail it in with the claim form, but you will not receive your prize the same day. Winners may receive their check via the mail or through an electronic deposit about a week later, and mandatory tax withholdings will be held from your check.
You’ll be required to fill out a claim form if your prize is worth more than $50.
