Expand All

Kansas voters can cast ballots now through Nov. 8 to decide on the next governor and other statewide offices, as well as congressional representatives to send to Washington, D.C., and state representatives to serve in Topeka.

Voters in Sedgwick County and some others also will choose county commissioners.

On Election Day, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Sedgwick County. You can check your voter registration and find your polling place through the Kansas secretary of state.

A lot is on the line for the future of the state. At The Eagle, we believe that our democracy is stronger when more people have the information they need to participate in and shape it. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to decide who is most likely to make choices you believe will best serve you and your community.

Below are links to candidates’ responses to a short survey of top issues: cost of living, education, abortion rights, health care and climate change.

In addition to the races, all Kansas voters will weigh in on two ballot questions and will decide whether state Supreme Court justices should be retained.

And Wichita school district voters will decide whether to change how school board members are elected.

How the voter guide works:

Click on the race you are curious about, and you’ll go to a page with candidates’ responses. There, you can use the jump menu to get to a specific race or district.

Any candidates that do not have answers below their names did not respond to the survey. Our team contacted campaigns multiple times via both email and phone calls over the past month.

If you are a candidate and would like to still submit responses, you can email us at mwerts@wichitaeagle.com. Voters will continue using this tool through Election Day.

A note on editing and fact-checking

Some survey responses were very lightly edited for grammar, but the substance of the responses was not edited and is in the candidates’ own words. We did not fact-check all of the candidates’ responses.

Ballot questions

Kansans will vote on two amendments to the state Constitution, one that would require sheriffs to be an elected position in counties going forward, and another that would give the state Legislature the power to veto regulations from state agencies.

You can read more here.

In the Wichita school district, residents will vote on a proposal to change how school board members are elected. You can learn more about that here.
