A pup is now in a home surrounded by love after she was discovered completely helpless — and very much in the dark — in Wisconsin.

Penny didn’t have a home, and considering her condition, it’s a wonder the small dog was able to survive on her own. According to the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee, she “was blind, alone and helpless when a kind-hearted passerby wrapped her in a towel,” the shelter said in a Nov. 4 Facebook post.

“Her eyes were swollen and ruptured, which led to complete blindness,” the shelter said in the post. “Our veterinary team started Penny on pain meds and antibiotics, and as soon as she was stable enough for surgery, we removed her eyes before things could get even worse.”

Her life was saved, and now she’s living a completely different life.

“Today, Penny is thriving in a loving home,” the shelter said.

People in the comments section of the post were thankful that she’s living her best life, pain free.

“Yeah penny has a home now!!” one person said.

“Such a precious baby,” another observed.
