Farewell reception to honor outgoing assistant superintendent

The Wichita school district will host a reception honoring Bill Faflick, outgoing assistant superintendent of secondary schools, Tuesday afternoon.

The farewell reception, 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, is open to district employees and community members. It will be held in Room 307 of the Alvin E. Morris Administrative Center, 201 N. Water.

Faflick, who has served 32 years as a teacher and administrator in Wichita, is leaving the district to become executive director-elect of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Gil Alvarez, principal of Northwest High School, has been appointed to replace him as assistant superintendent of secondary schools.
