Maize pharmacist accused of taking prescription narcotics, stimulants from job
A local pharmacist has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly taking prescription narcotics and stimulant drugs from their former employer, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas.
Logan Marshall Abbott, 33, of Maize is facing one count of acquiring and obtaining a controlled substance by deception/subterfuge, the release says. He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment Monday, court records show.
“Abbott is accused of using his position as a pharmacist to illegally acquire amphetamine (Adderall), lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse), methylphenidate (Ritalin), and oxycodone from his employer without authorization,” according to the release.
Abbott took the drugs for his own personal use, the release says.
The indictment, filed last week, accuses Abbott of stealing the drugs starting on an unknown date through Dec. 12, 2025.
Oxycodone is a prescription opioid pain medication. The other drugs are commonly used to treat conditions including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD.
Abbott could be ordered to serve up to four years in federal prison and pay a maximum fine of $250,000 if convicted, court records show.
