Wichita man drove drunk, caused fatal crash. He’s sentenced to prison
A Wichita man was sentenced Friday to five years, nine months in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed a motorcyclist last year.
Nathan A. Luck, 31, pleaded guilty on Sept. 26 to involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident in the death of 64-year-old Steven Richard Golik of Andover. He was sentenced to 69 months, a Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman said.
Golik was driving a motorcycle at the intersection of Central and Bristol, near Greenwich, a few minutes before 10 p.m. on July 28, 2024, when he collided with a car that turned in front of him. The driver — Luck — went home instead of stopping after the crash, Sedgwick County District Court records say.
Police were able to determine that he drove after spending the evening drinking alcohol at a bar, an affidavit says.
According to his obituary, Golik was a husband, father, grandfather and retired aviation worker. He died on Aug. 4, 2024, a week after the collision.
