The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has identified the man shot by deputies after a chase on Tuesday as 21-year-old Blake P. Patterson of Wichita, KBI spokesperson Melissa Underwood said in news release.

“Patterson remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition,” Underwood said.

The chase started shortly before 3 p.m. at Butler Road and SW 60th Street when Butler County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted a stolen vehicle and a chase ensued, the Eagle previously reported.

Deputies used spike strips to stop the vehicle where it crashed in a neighborhood near the intersection of Kellogg and 159th street, at the county line between Butler and Sedgwick County, Butler County Sheriff Montey Hughey said.

The suspect fled the vehicle and deputies chased him on foot. Shots were fired and one person was shot and is in critical condition, Hughey previously said.

All together, the Sedgwick and Butler County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation were at the scene near Andover.
