Employee doused with pepper spray during Wichita payday loan business robbery

Wichita police are looking for an armed robber who hit a south side payday loan business Thursday afternoon — and they are asking for public tips to help find him.

The robber went into the Check N’ Go, in the 3100 block of South Seneca, at around 3:10 p.m. and demanded an employee manning the store open the cash drawer, police said in an emailed news release. Police say the employee, 49, was doused with pepper spray, causing minor injuries.

The robber took cash and fled in a gray, four-door sedan that was last seen driving north on Seneca.

Police say the robber is a white man in his twenties or thirties, is about six feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans with a hole in the knee, a white scarf on his face and a red, white and blue baseball cap with a “W” on it.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call detectives at 316-268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or the See Something, Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282. Hotline and Crime Stoppers tipsters can remain anonymous.
