Girlfriend charged with murdering Wichita man. Second suspect charged, third on the run
A Kansas woman is charged with murder in the killing of her boyfriend, and a second suspect has also been charged as law enforcement continue to search for the third suspect.
Bobbie Williams-Cox, 36, and William Moore, 51, appeared in Sedgwick County District Court on Tuesday and were charged in connection to the shooting death of Blake Mayes.
Williams-Cox was charged with second-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault. Her bond was continued at $150,000, said Dan Dillon, the spokesman for the district attorney’s office. Moore was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. His bond was continued at $200,000.
Wichita police have said officers were called at around 7:10 p.m. Thursday to a shooting at a home in the 200 block of North Charles, near Douglas and Meridian. The officers found Mayes, who had a gunshot wound, on the front porch. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Investigators determined a disturbance at the home involved Mayes and his girlfriend, Williams-Cox. Moore and a third suspect were also involved in the altercation, which led to Mayes being shot and killed.
The third suspect, 28-year-old Jesse Sweeney, is still on the run. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
