One of the three people wanted in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday night near downtown Wichita has been arrested.

William James Moore, 51, of Wichita, was arrested Friday on suspicion of first-degree murder and a felon in possession of a firearm in connection to the shooting of Blake Mayes, 30, of Wichita, records show. Moore also was arrested in connection with separate charges for domestic battery and on a state warrant.

Police were called at around 7:10 p.m. Thursday about a shooting and found Mayes, who had been shot once in the body, on the front porch of a home in the 200 block of North Charles, near Second and Meridian.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

Police said they were looking for Moore, Bobbie Williams-Cox, 36, of Topeka and Sweeney, 28, of Wichita all in connection to the shooting.

“The investigation revealed a disturbance occurred at the home between Mayes, his girlfriend Williams-Cox, and acquaintances Moore, and Sweeney. During the disturbance, Mayes was shot, causing his fatal injuries,” Davidson said. “They are considered armed and dangerous.”
