Police looking for three people in fatal shooting near downtown Wichita

Three people are wanted in connection to a fatal shooting Thursday night at a home near downtown, the Wichita Police Department said Friday.

Responding to a shooting at around 7:10 p.m. Thursday, police found 30-year-old Blake Mayes, who had been shot once in the body, on the front porch of a home in the 200 block of North Charles, near Second and Meridian. The Wichita man was taken to the hospital where he later died, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

Police are looking for 36-year-old Bobbie Williams-Cox of Topeka, 51-year-old William Moore of Wichita and 28-year-old Jesse Sweeney of Wichita in connection to the shooting.

“The investigation revealed a disturbance occurred at the home between Mayes, his girlfriend Williams-Cox, and acquaintances Moore, and Sweeney. During the disturbance, Mayes was shot, causing his fatal injuries,” Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release. “They are considered armed and dangerous.”

Anyone with information about the case can call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
