Intoxicated boyfriend fired shotgun toward woman, children at Wichita home, cops say

An intoxicated man fired a shotgun toward his girlfriend and her children during a domestic violence incident at a south Wichita home Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police were called at around 3:30 p.m. to a domestic violence disturbance with shots fired in the 1000 block of South Laura, near Harry and Washington, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

Officers found a 28-year-old woman a couple blocks away, who said she was home with her 7-year-old and 1-year-old sons. When her boyfriend came home, he “was intoxicated and became upset at wanting to find paperwork inside the home,” Davidson said.

The boyfriend then fired a shotgun twice in the direction of the woman and her children, and he threatened them, police said. No injuries were reported.

The children and their mother left the home and called 911. The boyfriend drove away from the scene, but was found by officers while driving in the area of Pawnee and Washington. He was arrested without further incident.

Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Jaun Manuel Villasenor-Rosales, who was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault-domestic violence, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of child endangerment and criminal threat. Jail records show federal authorities have issued an immigration detainer.
