Wichita police seek boyfriend in deaths of woman, young daughter
A man wanted in a double homicide in south Wichita is the boyfriend of the woman and father of the girl who were killed, police said Tuesday.
Capt. Jason Stephens said the bodies were found Monday inside a home after 24-year-old Mickayla Sorell didn’t show up for work. At around 4:30 p.m. Monday, police did a welfare check and found Sorell and her daughter, 8-year-old Natalya Lopez, dead inside the home in the 4500 block of South Walnut, near 45th South and Seneca. Both had been shot. The shootings occurred Saturday night, Stephens said.
Sorell’s 25-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Lopez, is wanted as a suspect in the killings, Stephens said.
The killings are the 13th and 14th homicides of the year, Stephens said.
Anyone with information on the case can submit anonymous tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
