Kansas man wanted for rape surrenders in Nebraska; missing teen found, cops say

Update, Feb. 10:

Missing teenager Dolores Perez has been found, Ford County Sheriff Bill Carr said Sunday. She walked into a law enforcement agency after learning she had been reported as a missing person.

Update, Feb. 7:

A Dodge City man wanted on suspicion of rape and aggravated kidnapping has surrendered to officers in Grand Island, Nebraska. The teenager who was last seen with him is still missing, Ford County Sheriff Bill Carr said Friday.

On Friday, the Ford County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that 21-year-old Juan Carlos Gonzalez turned himself in Wednesday night. Dolores Perez, 18, of Dodge City, was last seen with Gonzalez on Jan. 22 — the same day of the alleged rape and aggravated kidnapping, Carr said.

“Still missing at this point,” Carr said.

A Kansas Bureau of Investigation missing person report from Thursday says Perez has brown hair and eyes, is 5-foot-3 and 140 pounds. The report says Perez could be in Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota or Texas.

Carr said Gonzalez and Perez were acquaintances. He said Perez was not the alleged victim in the case against Gonzalez. Carr said they haven’t yet extradited Gonzalez back to Kansas.

Anyone with information about Perez can call the KBI at 1-800-KS-Crime or the Sheriff’s Office at 620-227-4501.
