Man accused of stabbing woman multiple times in random attack will go to trial

The Wichita man accused of leaving a halfway house and randomly stabbing a woman approximately 30 times during a morning attack in September has been bound over for trial.

Sedgwick County District Judge Bruce Brown found enough evidence in Friday’s hearing against 31-year-old Wade Aaron Dunn, who is charged with attempted first-degree murder. On the day of the stabbing, Dunn left a Mirrors Inc. Residential Re-entry Center and never returned that night, court documents show. Dunn was arrested several days later by Wichita police officers.

The halfway house, at 3820 N. Toben, is 3.5 miles away from where the 28-year-old woman was stabbed in her driveway on the 7400 block of East 17th Street. The woman, who survived, spent at least a week in the hospital following the attack.

Dunn’s arraignment is set for Jan. 27.
