Wife killed 70-year-old husband in murder-suicide, Sheriff’s Office says

Authorities say a 54-year-old woman shot and killed her 70-year-old husband then turned the gun on herself while they were in bed.

Deputies discovered the bodies of Johnna M. Raymond and Robert N. Raymond at a home in the 11400 block of East Turtle Creek Circle when they responded to a residential alarm there shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. The home is in rural Sedgwick County east of Valley Center.

When officers arrived at the house, the front door was open, Lt. Timothy Myers said in the news release. The couple was dead in bed “with obvious gunshot wounds,” Myers said. Investigators determined Johnna Raymond shot her husband before killing herself, he said.

The release didn’t say what prompted the shooting.

“Investigators from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate this tragedy,” Myers said in the news release.
