Where to see fireworks and celebrate America 250 this July 4th in Wichita

This Fourth of July will be extra special as people across the U.S. celebrate America’s 250th birthday in communities across the country.

The holiday also falls on a Saturday this year, providing a long weekend to celebrate America with your friends and family.

Whether you are looking for free firework shows, historic tourism, baseball games or other patriotic programming, you can find it in Wichita.

Here are just some of the ways you can commemorate Independence Day in Wichita.

Bradley Fair Summer Concert and Fireworks

7:30 p.m. July 2, Bradley Fair Plaza, 1900 N. Rock

Enjoy the final concert in this year’s Summer Concert Series at Bradley Fair, featuring King Cabbage Brass Band. Following the concert, at 9:30 p.m., is a fireworks finale. The event is free, but you should reserve tickets ahead of time. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and can arrive as early as 6 p.m.

Baseball and Fireworks

7:05 p.m. July 2, 7:05 p.m. July 3, 6:35 p.m. July 4, Equity Bank Park, 275 S. McLean

The Wichita Wind Surge baseball games July 2, 3 and 4 will feature “the best fireworks show in Kansas” and other free promotions. Tickets start at $10.

We the People USA 250th Celebration at Union Station

7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 2, Historic Union Station, 701 E. Douglas

Celebrate America 250 in Wichita with live performances, local entertainment and a special lighting display.

Independence Day Concert

12 p.m. July 3, Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, 204 S. Main

This free lunchtime Bloomfield Carillon Concert can be enjoyed from inside Heritage Square or street side near the museum.

Let Freedom Sing! Patriotic Celebration

6 p.m. July 3, Holy Cross Lutheran Church & School, 600 N. Greenwich

The Wichita Grand Opera and Holy Cross Lutheran Church & School present a free patriotic celebration complete with food trucks, skydivers, aerobatics, children’s activities and more. At 8 p.m., enjoy a concert and fireworks. No on-site public parking is available, but the city of Wichita is providing free shuttles from Textron Plant IV lots near Central and Greenwich.

Celebrate America at Cowtown

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 4, Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 W. Museum Blvd.

To celebrate America “like they would have in the old west,” visit Old Cowtown Museum for its annual Independence Day event. Entertainment includes temperance marches, gunfights, wagon rides, “old timey baseball” and more. Adults are $15, seniors are $13, kids are $8 and members are $5. Youth 4 and under are free.

Red, White & BOOM! Fireworks Show

9:30 p.m. July 4, Downtown Wichita

Immediately following the Wichita Wind Surge baseball game, the city will light up downtown with Wichita’s biggest July 4 fireworks show. The fireworks are launched from the riverbank. Guests are encouraged to arrive as early as 6 p.m., and food vendors will be available on the Hyatt Lawn. Bring chairs and download the Pyrocast App to enjoy the show choreographed to music.
