Police said Tuesday they’re investigating after a woman was found dead at Cessna Park in southeast Wichita.

Wichita police spokesman Officer Brad Wright said the woman may be in her mid-thirties. Her cause of death and whether any foul play was involved remains under investigation, he said.

Officers and fire crews who responded to the park around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday found her body in a parking lot, Wright said.

Wright said the park and area around where the woman was found would be closed to the public as investigators comb the neighborhood looking for clues about what happened to her.

The park is near Kinkaid and Wallace streets, in the area of Pawnee and Woodlawn.

“Please take an alternate route if you have to travel through that area and allow law enforcement to conduct their investigation,” Wichita police said in a community alert posted on Facebook.

Wright asked anyone with information about the woman or her death to call Wichita police detectives at 316-268-4407 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
