Kansas woman, 19, dies when vehicle hits parked semi on K-96

A Hutchinson woman died Monday after the vehicle she was riding in crashed into a parked semi in Reno County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Baylee Marie Flynn was a passenger in a 2019 Dodge Durango that struck the 1999 Freightliner semi around 4:20 p.m. on K-96 Highway, about three miles south of South Hutchinson.

Another 19-year-old was driving the Durango northwest on K-96 approaching Trail West Road when it “veered onto the right shoulder” and hit the truck, a highway patrol crash report says. The semi was legally parked at the time, according to the report.

Flynn died from her injuries. The man driving the Durango received “suspected minor injury,” the crash report says.
