Coronavirus updates: Kansas adds 154 cases, but only one of them is in Sedgwick Co.

Public health officials reported a jump of 154 new coronavirus cases in Kansas, though only one of those patients lives in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s coronavirus pandemic update for Monday listed 3,328 COVID-19 cases in the state and 120 deaths. Sedgwick County has 339 cases, and local public health officials have reported six deaths and 170 recoveries.

On Sunday, the KDHE reported 3,174 cases — a jump of 118 from the day before — with 338 in Sedgwick County, which added four new cases. Statewide, there were 118 deaths.

As of Monday, there have been 23,839 negative tests. Sedgwick County has had 3,500 tests administered for a testing rate of 6.78 people per 1,000 population.

Patients range in age from infant to 99 years old with an average of 47 and a median of 46. There have been at least 496 hospitalizations, but data is not available in all cases. Of the patients admitted to hospitals, 180 went to intensive care.

In the Wichita area, Reno County has 26 cases, Butler County has 13, Harvey County has five, Sumner County has three, Cowley County has three and Kingman County has zero.

Eight coronavirus clusters have been identified in Sedgwick County, up two from previous reports. The new outbreaks are at a nursing home and a business, neither of which has been publicly identified by health officials.
