College Hill store reopens in Old Town with expanded merchandise

If you liked the Vault Collection when it was at Lincoln Heights Village, you’ll probably really like it in its new home in Old Town.

That’s because Allison Baker’s antique home furnishing and furniture store now has more room and more merchandise, too.

The Vault is in the former Uniquities space at 141 N. Rock Island, which is immediately in front of the Old Town Farm & Art Market.

The new store is 3,350 square feet, which is about 700 square feet larger than the College Hill store.

“It’s going to have a similar feeling . . . but now we’ve added a lot of new product at the store — things that are at different price points,” Baker said.

For instance, there are a variety of cocktail glasses at various price points and even a few varieties of mahjong sets in a range of prices.

That’s in addition to pricier estate pieces of furniture in styles such as Art Deco, mid-century modern and Art Nouveau.

The Vault had a soft opening on Saturday and officially opens Tuesday.

Regular hours will be 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The store will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

The Vault marks a departure from College Hill for Baker, who also owns Aspen Boutique and Frank & Fido at the northwest corner of Douglas and Oliver. Also, she now owns the Vault space instead of renting as she did in the previous space.

In addition to having “a lot of fun gift items” with the new space, Baker said she thinks the Vault’s new home is going to be a lot of fun in general.

As she said when sharing news of the move in November, “Downtown is really having . . . an exciting moment right now with all of the new things happening down there.”
