Lincoln Heights Village tenant is moving, but only across the intersection

Almost a year after opening at Lincoln Heights Village, Frank & Fido is moving, but not far.

The business, which owner Allison Baker calls “a store for men and man’s best friend,” is moving across the intersection of Douglas and Oliver to Baker’s Aspen Boutique, on the northwest corner.

The move comes as Baker prepares to move her Vault Collection from Lincoln Heights to downtown where Uniquities used to be at 141 N. Rock Island, immediately in front of the Old Town Farm & Art Market.

She said combining Frank & Fido and Aspen Boutique in one space makes sense in part because women who shop at Aspen also often buy clothing for the men in their lives, so it will be handy to have everything in one place.

Similarly, a lot of men already shop Aspen for the women in their lives, so now it will be convenient to shop for them and themselves, too.

And, of course, more people than not also have dogs in their lives, so dog treats and accessories will be available in the same spot as well.

Baker said Frank & Fido has done well since opening.

“People love the concept.”

She said the men’s side of the store has unique lines for Wichita, which she’s adding to in the new space.

Since she purchased Aspen in 2021, Baker has been regularly adding and culling women’s clothing and jewelry lines based on customer feedback, which is allowing her extra space for Frank & Fido.

Faherty is a new line she’s adding to the men’s side, and Frances Valentine is a line she’s adding to the women’s side this spring.

Wichita-area native Elyce Arons started the brand with the late Kate Spade, and she’ll be doing a trunk store at Aspen in April and a book signing in coordination with Watermark Books & Cafe.

“Our brands are never static,” Baker said.

Frank & Fido will move sometime in March, and the Vault will be transitioning to its new space in late March or early April.

To prepare — and to have less to move — Baker is having a series of sales at all three of her stores.

“We are doing the biggest sale we’ve ever had at Aspen right now,” she said.

The sale runs through Feb. 7, as does a new men’s winter apparel sale that started this week.

There will be a moving sale for large pieces at the Vault from Feb. 7 to Feb. 21.
