Granite City eviction trial continued as parties talk
An Oct. 12 trial for the eviction of the east-side Granite City has been continued to Oct. 19, which is when an eviction trial also is scheduled for the west-side Granite City.
“The reason for the continuance is that the parties are talking, and they are working toward getting their differences resolved,” says attorney Pat Hughes, who represents the landlords.
As Have You Heard? reported in late September, the landlords of the NewMarket Square and 21st and Webb Road restaurants have sued to evict the Minnesota-based company for nonpayment of rent.
Though the parties are talking regarding the east-side restaurant, it doesn’t necessarily sound like it’s to permanently keep it but instead to select an acceptable date for it to go.
Hughes says, “Both parties would prefer to have the transition from the tenant to the landlord, whenever that occurs, be one that is mutually convenient.”
No one with Granite City could immediately be reached for comment.
