Beer bar in Kansas is named one of the best in US. What makes it award-winning?
A Kansas brewpub that opened in 2015 has now been named the fifth-best beer bar in all of America for the second year in a row.
The restaurant and pub — Tallgrass Tap House in downtown Manhattan — prides itself on its 10-barrel brewhouse, which “produces a rotating lineup of craft brews featured on tap.”
Tallgrass Tap House was named one of “10 beer bars to visit across the country” by USA Today 10Best.
To find the 10 best beer bars, an expert panel of travel writers and USA Today editors nominated their favorite spots, then readers voted on their favorites.
“Each offers a stellar selection of draft, bottled, or canned beers, many with a focus on local or regional selections,” USA Today said when publishing the list in March. “Pair that with a relaxed atmosphere and knowledgeable bar staff ready to help any guest become a beer connoisseur, and you’ve got a recipe for a great beer bar.”
Tallgrass Tap House named No. 5 beer bar
In naming Tallgrass Tap House the fifth-best beer bar, USA Today editors highlighted its 11,000 square foot location and rooftop patio in the “historic and revitalized downtown district of Manhattan.”
“Tallgrass features 18 taps, with their own exclusives like Pumpkin Slayer Stout, brewed with cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg, as well as rotating beers from around the region and farther afield,” USA Today said. “Order a tasting flight to sample multiple beers and prepare to enjoy the fine food and music nights on the rooftop.”
The tap house boasts 4.6 stars from 2,361 reviews on Google, 4 stars from 352 Yelp reviews and is recommended by 90% of 1,459 Facebook reviewers.
“If you are looking for good food and great beer, go to Tallgrass,” one Google reviewer said.
“Great beers and Korean BBQ wings were awesome,” someone wrote on Yelp. “My wife had the Mac and Cheese and it was good too. Very attentive and timely service.”
“Stopped in and had a flight of brews. Great atmosphere and good beer,” a Facebook user said. “Didn’t try their food but looked and smelled amazing. Was able to sit on their rooftop and enjoy the flight as well! If you’re a craft beer lover, put it on your list to try!”
