New business Pho Saigon has just popped up at an unexpected place in Wichita
One of Wichita’s many boba shops has just added something new: weekend pho.
Sharetea Wichita, which opened at Peach Tree Center on the northeast corner of Kellogg and Rock in March 2024, introduced its new offering last weekend.
Technically, the pho is being offered as part of a “pop-up” put on by a relative of store manager Tommy Nguyen. Kim Nguyen, 71, works in the aircraft industry but makes pho as a hobby. He has experience working in restaurants in Vietnam as well as in Wichita and is now offering his pho at Sharetea from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. His pop-up is operating under the name Pho Saigon.
Kim Nguyen simmers the broth for his pho for six to seven hours, Tommy Nguyen said. It’s available with rare beef, brisket or a combination pho that has both rare beef and brisket as well as meatballs.
Tommy Nguyen said that to prepare for the addition, Sharetea put in a commercial hood and obtained all the correct licenses. Customers who stopped in for Pho Saigon’s first weekend gave positive reviews, he said.
“We got good feedback from people,” he said. “Some of them also did very good Google reviews for us.”
People can order pho to go or stay at Sharetea, 8027 E. Peachtree Lane, to eat it. The soup ranges from $13.99 to $14.99 a bowl.
Kim Nguyen is considering retiring in the coming years, Tommy Nguyen said, and he may add more food options and more hours.
Wichita’s Sharetea shop is part of a chain that originated in Taiwan and now has more than 400 stores across 12 countries. It serves milk teas, fruit teas and blended drinks.
