Asian Night Market returns with food from Wichita restaurants, fireworks show
The fireworks exploding over Equity Bank Park on Saturday night won’t be baseball-related.
Instead, they’ll be part of the fifth annual Wichita Asian Night Market, an event that will feature dozens of local Asian restaurants selling their food plus arts and crafts vendors, lion dancers, balloon animals and face painting.
The event, put on by a group called Wichita Asian Alliance in partnership with the National Association of Asian American Professionals, will happen from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Equity Bank Park, 275 S. McLean. It’s inspired by popular nighttime bazaars regularly put on in Asian countries such as China and Thailand and has drawn big crowds in past years.
Tickets are $11 through 11:59 p.m. on Friday and $13 on Saturday at www.tickettailor.com/events/asiannightmarketict. Tickets purchased at the door are $15. Tickets that allow early admission at 5 p.m. are $25 though Friday and $28 before 4 p.m. Saturday but must be purchased online. Children under 5 will be admitted at no charge.
Among the food vendors selling food will be recognizable names like Yokohama Ramen Joint, Wasabi Downtown, Tiger Rice Japanese Kitchen, T-Swirl Crepe, Feng Cha and Coffee Daze. See the full list of vendors below.
The event will include live music and dancers, a lion dance at 9:15 p.m. and a fireworks show at 10 p.m. Vendors on site will be selling KPOP and anime items, jewelry, henna tattoos and clothing.
