The ‘permanent’ closing of this Wichita DQ restaurant wasn’t so permanent after all
The DQ Grill & Chill at 1520 S. Webb Road that closed last fall is about to make a comeback.
A spokesman for the chain said on Wednesday that the restaurant will reopen on Monday, April 28, under a new owner/operator. Abdul Quddus, who has more than 15 DQ restaurants throughout Kansas and Missouri, is taking over the store.
Back in early September, one of the restaurant’s former franchisees was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon and criminal discharge of a firearm. Police records showed that the arrest took place at 1520 S. Webb, the address of the restaurant.
The DQ was closed just a few weeks later, but the company said at the time that it was because of a “months-long process related to contractual obligations.”
Once it reopens, the DQ’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. It will have indoor seating, a designated mobile order pick-up counter, drive-through lanes, an outdoor patio and a decorative 14-foot DQ red spoon.
