A Wichita DQ Grill & Chill is permanently closed just weeks after one of its owners was arrested at the restaurant on suspicion of aggravated assault and gun charges.

A spokeswoman for Dairy Queen confirmed on Monday that the DQ Grill & Chill at 1520 S. Webb Road would not be reopening but said that details about contracts between the company and its franchisees were confidential.

“I can share that the closure is the result of a months-long process related to contractual obligations,” the spokeswoman said in an email.

One of the restaurant’s franchisees was arrested on Sept. 4 on suspicion of aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon and criminal discharge of a firearm. Arrest records show that the arrest took place at 1520 S. Webb, the address of the restaurant.

Andrew Ford, public information officer for the Wichita Police Department, said that the investigation into the incident was still ongoing and that he couldn’t share any more details on the incident.

The Dairy Queen appears to have operated in the strip center near Harry and Webb since about 1993. The address is no longer included on the list of Wichita locations on the Dairy Queen website.
